HADAL is what happens when a creeping text mystery meets timeline-run incrementals — at the bottom of the ocean.
You command a research submersible from a control room rendered in clean pixel-art instruments. Depth is your headline number, and it only goes down: coastal shallows, the twilight zone, the abyssal plain, and finally the hadal trenches at 10,911 m — where the game actually, properly ends.
DIVE — the active half. Before each descent, draft your approach and pick an equipment loadout: what you can find, what you can bring back, and how deep you dare to go are always in tension. Branching events put risk on the table — approach the hydrothermal vent, or play it safe? When the hull groans, hit the emergency blow.
ANALYZE — the idle half. Your mothership lab processes specimens while you're away — full offline progress. Come back to an analysis report, new research unlocked, and grant money for your next upgrade.
A sonar that knows how to build suspense. Contacts come in signal tiers — teal, amber, purple, gold — with escalating pings as you close in. Sometimes the gold contact is a whale fall. Sometimes it's old fishing gear. The odds are shown honestly, a pity system has your back, and there is no gambling here: no wagers, no loot boxes, nothing to buy.
Your vessel grows — visibly. Every upgrade is drawn onto your sub in the viewport: hull plating, manipulator arms, sonar arrays. When you finally retire her and lay the keel of a new vessel, you'll feel it.
And the deeper you go, the stranger the analysis logs get. Something down there is counting you back.
